Our very percussive seed pod cacho, or shaker, is handcrafted from a native gourd which is burnished and etched with geometric designs. Colorful bird feathers are added to the top and a tassel is attached with black braided cord. Colors and sizes vary. Handcrafted in Peru.

Cachos are important to indigenous music and these hand-crafted Andean cachos are made in Peru.  A traditional percussion instrument from the Andes, they have a rich pre-Colombian tradition. All are made either with seed pods or bells. Cachos are bound together with string and adorned with a hand woven cinta, or strap, either by being attached to or around something. Cachos are used by Andean groups to keep rhythm when they are shaken to the beat.
